At Embrace the Dog, we believe dog training is about creating trust, building connection, and fostering confidence for both dogs and their humans.
Trauma-Informed Care
Every dog carries experiences that shape how they see the world. Some are joyful and others may be frightening. Trauma informed care means we recognize those histories and adjust our approach with empathy, patience, and respect. Instead of forcing dogs into situations before they are ready, we create safe spaces where they can rebuild trust and confidence at their own pace. We read their body language, honor their boundaries, and celebrate even the smallest steps forward.
Positive Reinforcement
We focus on what we want to see more of by rewarding calm, curious, and confident behavior so it naturally becomes a habit. Through treats, praise, play, and affection, we make learning an enjoyable experience for your dog. Positive reinforcement is about building a relationship where your dog understands that good choices lead to good things, and mistakes are opportunities to learn without fear.
Mindful Communication
Dogs speak volumes without words through posture, eye contact, tail movement, and energy. Mindful communication is about listening as much as teaching. We slow down, observe, and match our tone, body language, and cues to what our dogs need in the moment. By being intentional in how we connect, we teach skills, strengthen trust, reduce stress, and create a shared language between dog and human.

Embrace the Dog is led by Jodeci Gonzalez, a certified dog trainer with a background in positive reinforcement, trauma-informed care, and holistic wellness. Drawing from experience in animal behavior, human mindfulness, and canine nutrition, Jodeci blends science-based techniques with a calm, intuitive approach. The goal? To empower dog guardians with the tools, confidence, and understanding to help their dogs thrive.
